OUR HISTORY
Family business founded by Ramon Bou over 40 years ago, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather who, with just a cart and a few horses, pioneered waste collection in the Osona area. Many years of dedication and effort later, Contenidors Bou is a benchmark in Catalonia’s waste transport and management sector, operating an extensive fleet and holding all the necessary permits and authorisations.
1920s
Great-grandfather Bou starts a construction materials carriage business in the town of Vic with just a cart pulled by the family’s horses.
1940
Grandfather Bou sets ups Vic’s first waste collection company and wins the contract to collect all its municipal waste.
1944
His son Ramon Bou joins the firm and helps his father run the waste collection business in Vic. Together they acquire their first local quarries.
1989
Ramon Bou registers the Contenidors Bou SL trademark and the company moves into its first industrial unit in Vic. At that stage, the company has a fleet of 4 lorries.
1998
The fleet continues to grow and Contenidors Bou starts to position itself as a leading waste transport company.
2001
Ramon Bou wins the Catalonian regional government’s Best Carrier of the Year award.
2003
The firm expands its offices and opens the site in Calledetenes, which remains its headquarters today.
2009
The next generational handover takes place. Ramon Bou officially transfers management of Contenidors Bou to his son Eduard Bou, current director of the company.
2018
Contenidors Bou buys its second refuse collection lorry. Father and son travel to Holland to personally bring it back to Catalonia. This lorry now exclusively collects cardboard, a vital waste recycling task.
2020
Today, the company operates a comprehensive fleet of 14 lorries and employs a strong team of drivers and office staff permanently dedicated to serving our clients.
2023
Contenidors Bou continues to renew and expand its fleet
of energy-efficient vehicles to minimise its environmental impact.
The company buys 3 new lorries from Scania, one of them the first fitted
with an electric tarpaulin system to operate in Catalonia.
